The Catalogue

Workflows for your study: machines that stand in the room and do a job when you switch them on, made by finkers and by the house. Every piece on this shelf was read by the house before it got its number. Nothing unread is ever on it.

The room is free. The house's tools are free. A fee is asked only when one finker supplies another.

How a piece gets on the shelf

and why nothing unread is ever on it

Step 1 · a maker

Sends it to the desk

A zip: what it is, the aisle it stands in, what it needs, a script and the trial it must pass, and pictures of it in a study.

Step 2 · the robots

The guard reads it

Before any person does, the touches guard reads every line and sends back anything that reaches past the files it names.

Step 3 · the house

A person inspects it

Reads it, runs its trial in a sandbox, looks at its pictures, and gives it a number or sends it back with a note.

Step 4 · the shelf

Stamped and numbered

Here and in the app's study at once, the same listing. A new version waits at the desk too; the old one stays until it's read.

Something wrong with a piece? Every page has "Report this". Two reports take it off the shelf at once, before anyone reviews them; the house then puts it back or keeps it down.

Our terms

the whole of them

BrowsingFree, with or without an account. Ordering needs one, so a piece can reach your study.
The shelfOnly numbered pieces are on it. A piece waiting at the desk, sent back, or a new version not yet read is shown to nobody but its maker. A piece off the shelf while the house re-checks it can't be ordered; orders already made stay yours.
The roomThe study is free, on your device, for everyone with the app. Nothing in this book changes that.
House toolsEvery machine the house builds for itself is listed free. No fee, no account beyond the app.
The sellerFink sells everything in this book, a maker's piece included: the maker lets the house sell it, and it stays the maker's.
The BookstoreFink's own looks (the Looks aisle) are sold outright, the price in lead to the house, with no maker and no royalty. They are yours for good. Earned pieces are never sold, and nothing here buys XP, a level, a Space, a plot or a listing.
Maker piecesThe maker sets the price in lead, 100 to 5,000. For every sale the house owes the maker a royalty, by the maker's own choice: 60 cents for every 100 lead of the price, in dollars, or 90 lead for every 100, in lead. The rest of the price is the house's. There is no other fee.
MakersAnyone with an account can send a piece to the desk. A maker whose last three pieces were numbered with none sent back is marked a trusted maker; the mark changes nothing at the desk, where every version of every piece is read.
LeadBought in bundles, 100 to the dollar. Lead is for ordering here and buying at the Bookstore, and is never money: no lead, bought or taken as a royalty, is paid out, traded or exchanged. A refund is lead.
A numberIs never for sale. The desk numbers a piece or sends it back with a note. No currency, soft or real, buys a listing or a place on this week's shelf.
The ledgerLead is append-only rows, and never touches XP, Elo or credits. Nothing in the book is a subscription.
Your machineA machine runs where the study is. The house never runs it for you and never sees your shelves.
